Terms of use
The rules of the road.
The plain-language version: use MedScan for yourself or people you're authorised to care for, don't misuse it, and always listen to your doctor over us. The formal version follows.

1. Who can use MedScan
You must be 18 or older to create an account. You may add profiles for family members — including minors — if you have lawful authority to manage their health records.
2. What MedScan is
MedScan is an information tool with two surfaces: (1) reading prescriptions and lab reports you upload, and (2) answering general health questions in chat. Both are informational only. We do not diagnose, prescribe, or provide medical advice. Nothing in the app is a substitute for a consultation with a registered medical practitioner.
If an explanation the app produces conflicts with advice from your doctor, follow your doctor. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call the appropriate emergency number for your country immediately.
3. Acceptable use
- Do not upload documents that do not belong to you or to someone you are authorised to care for.
- Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the service.
- Do not use the app to coerce, deceive, or harm another person.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
4. Content you upload and ask
You retain ownership of everything you upload and every question you ask. You grant us a limited licence to process it solely for the purpose of providing the service to you — running OCR on documents, answering general health questions, generating explanations, setting reminders, and storing the results in your account. We do not use your uploads or your questions for any other purpose.
5. Clinical safety
We do our best to extract medications and lab values correctly, using curated databases and clinical review. We cannot guarantee zero errors. When we are not confident, we say so and recommend you confirm with your clinician. Please treat the app's output as a helpful second pair of eyes, not a replacement for your doctor.
6. Service availability
The service is provided "as is". We will make reasonable efforts to keep the app working, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any medical decision, outcome, or damage arising from your or your clinician's use of information derived from the app. You agree that MedScan's total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, for the free tier, is zero).
8. Changes
We may update these terms to reflect legal or product changes. We will notify you by email at least 30 days before material changes take effect.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of India. Disputes will be subject to the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka.
